Job Summary

Head Start is a federally-funded, national child and family development program providing comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families. Services for children promote school readiness through early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and services for children with special needs. Services for parents promote family engagement through parent leadership and social service supports.

About the Role

You will serve as lead or co-teacher in an outcomes-oriented, team environment, providing safe, healthy, friendly, and developmentally appropriate environments and experiences for infants and toddlers. This position aims to improve the trajectory of children's lives, including their learning outcomes, living standards, and future academic and professional success.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement developmentally appropriate curricula for infants and toddlers
• Assess children's developmental progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
• Provide a nurturing and supportive environment for children and families
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity of care and support for children
• Document children's growth and development in a timely and accurate manner
• Engage with families to build strong partnerships and support their involvement in their children's education

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related education field
• Infant toddler specific education and experience meeting or exceeding the requirements for an Infant Toddler CDA Credential
• Knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, child behavior management, and curriculum planning, development, and implementation
• A commitment to social justice and working with families with limited financial resources
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (bilingual abilities a plus!)
• Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation
• Physical ability to carry out required tasks

Pay

The rate of pay depends on qualifications. The 60 working day probationary wage range is $23.73-$28.08/hour; hourly rate of pay after 60 working day probationary period ends ranges from $24.07-$28.76/hour.

Schedule

40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year.
