Early Head Start Teacher (Infant/Toddler)

About the role

The Early Head Start Lead Teacher plays an essential role in providing a quality child development program focusing on the cognitive, social, and emotional development of infants and toddlers. The position involves supporting the agency's mission by meeting the childcare needs of families and engaging parents in their child's education.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements a curriculum consistent with current NAYC accreditation practices.
• Designs and maintains a classroom environment that adheres to Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC Accreditation, and NH State Childcare Licensing regulations.
• Engages in adult-child interactions that are responsive, supportive, and respectful of children’s needs, development, and play interests.
• Completes all necessary administrative responsibilities including reporting on development benchmarks for children, completing screening tools, and documenting curriculum plans.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for Infant/Toddler Caregivers, or equivalent credential. Must have infant/toddler child growth and development coursework or equivalent coursework according to NH State Childcare Licensing.
• Experience: Previous experience working in an early childhood classroom with supervisory duties preferred.
• Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate with infants, toddlers, and their families; ability to relate comfortably to income-eligible families.
• Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience.
• Technical: Successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid Certification. Must be 21 years old. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.
