Responsibilities

• Protect the physical and mental health and safety of our children, ensuring no child is left alone or unsupervised.
• Create an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and skill growth aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
• Implement prescribed curricula to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences in various subjects and integrate child assessment data in individual and group planning.
• Support screenings, assessments, and ongoing evaluations of the child’s developmental level and progress.
• Engage parents and family members in their child’s development and program services through parent conferences, home visits, and group activities.
• Follow appropriate practices to ensure children’s safety during all activities, including reporting suspected abuse and neglect, proper supervision, and adherence to safety standards.
• Participate in staff development, including completing training requirements, continuing professional development, and staff wellness initiatives.
• Support classroom activities as directed by the teacher and assist with transitions between the classroom and other activities.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.
• Communicate child observations to teachers and support teachers in addressing identified needs.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or GED, Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required within 6 months of employment, and a second CDA within 6 months if mixed classrooms are present.
• Preferred: Previous early childcare experience, bilingual (Spanish).
• Requirements: Demonstrated ability to respond sensitively and competently to diverse populations, communicate in English and Spanish, maintain emotional control, and adhere to INK policies and procedures.

Measurable Deliverables

• Timely and compliant response to classroom requests for support.
• Regular communication with teachers to inform them about student behavior and progress.
• Avoidance of physical and environmental hazards in the classroom.
• Incident reporting within designated timeframes.

Requirements

• Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
• Committed to following immunization recommendations from the CDC.
• Must have received a COVID vaccination and annual influenza vaccination or obtain an approved exemption due to medical or religious reasons.
