Early Childhood Substitute Teacher - Year Round - Occasional
About the role
The Steamboat Childcare Center (SCCC) is hiring Early Childhood Substitute teachers. These positions support Early Childhood Teachers and Assistant Teachers, providing care and education for children aged birth to five.
Responsibilities
- Support classroom teachers and assistants
- Create a safe, healthy, and secure environment
- Perform daily child care duties including feeding, diapering, and napping
- Help in other classrooms as needed
- Maintain compliance with all legal requirements
- Maintain confidentiality
- Engage children in outdoor activities for long periods, sometimes in inclement weather
- Work cooperatively with other teaching professionals
- Provide positive guidance and redirection
- Respond to teachers' sub requests within 24 hours
- Comply with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Demonstrate an interest in young children and a concern for their proper care and well-being
- Show flexibility to care for children of all ages
- Have knowledge of child development and be willing to stay updated with current best practices
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) in English
- Be able to lift, carry, and position children up to 40 pounds
- Be able to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, talking, and sitting on the floor
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- AAS or BS in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Willingness to train the right person
Skills
Must demonstrate an interest in young children and a concern for their proper care and well-being. Flexibility to care for children of all ages. Knowledge of child development and willingness to stay up to date with current best practices. Ability to maintain professional communication with parents, supervisors, Early Childhood Teachers, and Assistant Early Childhood Teachers. Must communicate clearly (written and oral) in English. Pay
The base hourly pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00 per hour based on your CO PDIS credential level.
Schedule
Early Childhood Subs are expected to commit to 2 full days or 3 half-days per week plus a monthly staff meeting.

Working Conditions
- Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to harsh and varying outside weather conditions.
- Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.
