Essential Job Duties
- Nursery Assistant Duties Include:
- Offering supervision and care to children under the direct supervision of the Lead teacher, from 8:20 until 12:00 Monday through Friday.
- Arrive at work and be ready to begin responsibilities by 8:00am. Follow the Lead teacher’s direction for the day’s preparation.
- Support developmentally appropriate Waldorf Curriculum by following Lead teacher’s direction, training, and suggestions.
- Support activities may include snack preparation, bodily care of the students, light housekeeping in the classroom and garden spaces, dish washing and clean up after meals, offering physical support to children during circle or story activities, keeping children safe during outings, comforting and supporting children during separation, attending faculty meetings, Open Houses, and other evening events as requested, and any other task assigned by the lead teacher.
- Undergo and keep current the licensing requirements for the Childcare License, such as CPR, and other health, safety, and curriculum classes assigned.
- Desire to continue on a path of self-development and professional development.
- Act as Substitute Teacher as needed for Early Childhood programs.
- Substitute Teacher Responsibilities Include:
- Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.
- Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students.
- Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment.
- Supervise students out of class such as in hallways and in outside play areas.
Qualifications
- Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience working with preschool aged children
- Agreement with WSNO Employee Handbook
- Friendly, flexible, and comfortable establishing classroom management
- Extremely reliable and dependable
- Experience:
- Early childhood education: 2 years (Required)
- Language:
- English (Required)

- Pay: $20.00 per hour
