Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Affirm child care and supervision of children in infant, toddler, and/or preschool classrooms.
  • Support children's physical, social-emotional, communication, and developmental needs.
  • Implement daily activities and routines, ensuring all children are under direct supervision at all times.
  • Support activities of daily living such as diapering, toileting, feeding, hygiene, and rest.
  • Prepare and serve bottles, snacks, and meals as assigned.
  • Follow individualized care plans, including feeding and sleep schedules for infants.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Ensure equipment, materials, and facilities are clean, well-maintained, and safe.
  • Assist with classroom setup, transitions, and outdoor supervision.
  • Collaborate with lead teachers, assistant teachers, and therapists.
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with families to support continuity between home and school.
  • Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, and effective communication while representing Includ(Ed).
  • Assist with classroom documentation, logs, and basic record keeping.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide flexible coverage across classrooms as needed to support ratios and staffing needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support program operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 12 core ECE units required, including 3 units related to infant care.
  • Minimum 6 months experience working with children in a licensed childcare or early learning setting.
  • Experience with infants, toddlers, or in inclusive settings preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and implement inclusive strategies and classroom supports.

Additional Requirements

  • DOJ/FBI/CA CACI Livescan fingerprint clearance.
  • Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • 16-hour Preventative Health & Safety training preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) and/or working use of ASL a plus.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
  • Physical requirements: ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, kneel, bend, stoop, sit on the floor, and stand for extended periods, and actively engage in physical play and supervision.
