Position Summary

Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and faith-filled Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide instructional continuity in our Early Childhood Program. The successful candidate will create a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth of preschool-aged children while embracing the mission and values of Catholic education.

Essential Responsibilities

Faith & Mission

  • Support the mission and philosophy of Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School.
  • Model Christian values and serve as a positive role model for students.
  • Incorporate prayer and Catholic values into the daily classroom routine.
  • Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and other faith-based activities as appropriate.

Instruction

  • Implement lesson plans and classroom routines that align with the Early Childhood curriculum.
  • Foster a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
  • Promote learning through hands-on exploration, play-based experiences, and purposeful instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the developmental needs of all learners.
  • Encourage independence, curiosity, creativity, and positive social interactions.

Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain a structured, nurturing classroom environment.
  • Utilize positive behavior management techniques that encourage respect, responsibility, and kindness.
  • Supervise students throughout the school day, including arrival, dismissal, recess, lunch, and special activities.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe classroom.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with parents, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Collaborate with classroom assistants, specialists, and administrators to support student success.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development as requested.

Assessment & Documentation

  • Observe and monitor student growth and development.
  • Maintain attendance records and any required classroom documentation.
  • Communicate student concerns or significant observations to the administration.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Follow all school policies, emergency procedures, and health protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Pennsylvania teaching certification or eligibility to serve as a Long-Term Substitute preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool or early childhood students preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and families.

Employment Requirements

The successful candidate must:

  • Complete and maintain a current Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) employee file, including all required clearances and certifications.
  • Obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania background clearances prior to employment.
  • Complete all Archdiocese of Philadelphia Safe Environment requirements.
  • Meet all employment requirements established by Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
