Reporting to the Child & Family Services Manager, the Early Childhood Educator participates as a member of the team providing a nurturing, culturally respectful, and age-appropriate education program for children in the MMFN Early Learning Centre.

Responsibilities

  • Foster each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth and support the development of a positive self-image.
  • Teach children to recognise and value their heritage within the parameters of Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation culture.
  • Recognise families as children's first teachers and work respectfully with parents and caregivers.
  • Develop monthly themes and curriculum that consider each child's individual developmental and learning needs.
  • Support children's transition from preschool into the provincial public school system.
  • Operate the facility in compliance with applicable child-care legislation, policies, licensing requirements, and MMFN standards.
  • Report child progress and development to parents regularly and meet with families as required for information and follow-up.
  • Complete observations, reports, annual assessments, newsletters, and related child-care documentation as required.
  • Oversee program materials, supplies, equipment, and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment.

Requirements

  • Early Childhood Educator certificate (from any province or territory) required.
  • Valid Standard First Aid or Child Safe certificate required.
  • A minimum of five years of teaching or early childhood education experience preferred.
  • Experience working with children with special needs is a strong asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a team-oriented learning environment.
  • Ability to use varied instructional strategies to meet a wide range of individual needs.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth, kindness, compassion, and extracurricular activities.
  • RCMP clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation required.

Pay

$33.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on experience and education.

Schedule

Full-time, 63 hours biweekly, with every other Friday off.
