About the role
Our client is seeking a passionate 4-K Teacher to guide four-year-old learners through a critical pre-kindergarten year. The primary goal of this role is to ensure school readiness through developmentally appropriate, play-based learning that helps pupils become mature, able, and responsible adults.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements play-based instruction focused on school readiness, foundational literacy, and social-emotional development.
- Establishes clear, appropriate goals for classroom activities and communicates them effectively to young learners.
- Affirms student growth regularly, provides formal progress reports, and modifies teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
- Buils strong partnerships with parents through oral and written communication, progress reports, and potential home visits.
- Creates a safe, structured, and nurturing environment tailored to the maturity and interests of four-year-olds.
- Plans, supervises, and evaluates the assignments of teacher aides and classroom volunteers.
- Maintains accurate records in accordance with state laws, federal funding metrics, and board policies while participating in continuous professional development.
Qualifications
- Active South Carolina teaching certification in Early Childhood Education.
- Must meet all state-required credentials tied to South Carolina’s 4K program funding (First Steps or state pre-K grants).
- Deep understanding of early childhood milestones, methods for developing stimulating lesson plans, and foundational counseling/adjustment strategies for young children.
- Ability to demonstrate concepts clearly, manage an active early-childhood classroom, and communicate effectively with a diverse community of parents and district staff.
Preferred Skills
- Working Conditions: Classroom environment with a degree of stress related to constant student supervision. Must be able to lift/move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional local travel required; no overnight travel.
