Position Summary
The GOFCC Coach / Technical Assistance Specialist plays a critical role in expanding access to high-quality child care by supporting individuals through the entire journey of becoming licensed Family Child Care (FCC) providers. This position requires a hands-on, relationship-driven coach who can guide participants from interest to licensure with urgency, accountability, and care.
Technical Assistance Specialist Responsibilities
- Navigate the Office of Child Care Family Child Care (FCC) licensing process
- Build sustainable family child care businesses
- Achieve participation in Maryland EXCELS
- Successfully launch and operate high-quality programs
Work Environment
- Normal business hours are 8:00/9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (depending on time of arrival)
- This position requires some evening and Saturday hours to facilitate professional development classes
- Work hours will be adjusted to maintain a 35-hour work week
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
- OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Completion Of 45-hour Child Development course
- (Infant/Toddler, Preschool, or School-Age)
Experience
- 5 years’ experience in early childhood education program, licensed child care (center and/or family child care), school-age child care, Head Start/Early Head Start, or PreK education setting
Skills
- Strong verbal, writing, and organizational skills
- Strong database skills
- Knowledge of Maryland child care delivery system
- Ability to communicate effectively with child care providers, peers and other professionals
- Ability to represent BCCCRC as appropriate in the community
- Knowledge of software operation including Microsoft Word, Canva, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and travel throughout Baltimore City
