Early Childhood Coach

Position Summary

The GOFCC Coach / Technical Assistance Specialist plays a critical role in expanding access to high-quality child care by supporting individuals through the entire journey of becoming licensed Family Child Care (FCC) providers. This position requires a hands-on, relationship-driven coach who can guide participants from interest to licensure with urgency, accountability, and care.

Technical Assistance Specialist Responsibilities

• Navigate the Office of Child Care Family Child Care (FCC) licensing process
• Build sustainable family child care businesses
• Achieve participation in Maryland EXCELS
• Successfully launch and operate high-quality programs

Work Environment

• Normal business hours are 8:00/9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (depending on time of arrival)
• This position requires some evening and Saturday hours to facilitate professional development classes
• Work hours will be adjusted to maintain a 35-hour work week

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
• OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Completion Of 45-hour Child Development course
• (Infant/Toddler, Preschool, or School-Age)

Experience

• 5 years’ experience in early childhood education program, licensed child care (center and/or family child care), school-age child care, Head Start/Early Head Start, or PreK education setting

Skills

• Strong verbal, writing, and organizational skills
• Strong database skills
• Knowledge of Maryland child care delivery system
• Ability to communicate effectively with child care providers, peers and other professionals
• Ability to represent BCCCRC as appropriate in the community
• Knowledge of software operation including Microsoft Word, Canva, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to work independently and travel throughout Baltimore City
