Early Childhood Bus Aide
About the Role
CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs provide full‑day, full‑year early childhood services to low‑income children ages 0‑3 and their families in educationally‑stimulating environments. The Migrant Head Start program offers full‑day, full‑year services to children ages 0‑5 from migrant and seasonal farm‑working families where hand‑picked and row crops are prevalent.
Position Summary
The Bus Aide assists the Bus Driver/Facilities Custodian to ensure children follow CPLC ECD safety rules while traveling on the school bus. Responsibilities include providing educational activities that complement classroom learning, giving clear directives on conduct and safety, promoting school readiness, actively supervising children at all times, maintaining health and safety regulations, and facilitating health practices in bus, outdoor, and indoor environments.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies
- High School Diploma/GED required; CDA preferred.
- At least six months experience and/or training with children ages 0‑5 preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow through on assigned tasks.
- Positive, clear interaction with children, parents, volunteers, and staff.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License (no restrictions) for Texas locations or valid New Mexico Driver’s License (no restrictions) for New Mexico locations preferred.
