Early Childhood Bus Aide

About the role

The Bus Aide assists the Bus Driver/Facilities Custodian to ensure children observe CPLC Early Childhood Development safety rules while traveling on the school bus, provides educational activities that complement classroom learning, supervises children by sight and sound, maintains health and safety regulations, and facilitates health practices to keep children safe on the bus and in indoor/outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Bus Driver/Facilities Custodian to ensure children observe CPLC ECD safety rules and regulations while on the school bus.
• Provide educational activities that complement the children’s classroom education.
• Give clear and appropriate directives to children regarding conduct and safety on the school bus.
• Promote school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success.
• Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments.
• Maintain all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment.
• Facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor, and indoor environments.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is preferred.
• At least six months of experience and/or training with children ages 0‑5 is preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
• A valid Texas Driver’s License free of restrictions is preferred for centers located in Texas.
• A valid New Mexico Driver’s License free of restrictions is preferred for centers located in New Mexico.

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to follow through on assigned tasks.
• Ability to relate positively and clearly with children, parents, volunteers, and staff.
• Basic computer literacy and skills.
