Department Overview

E3 Adult Acute Care is a 30 bed med/surg unit with telemetry services. Patients are a combination of short stays and admissions from the ER and clinics. Many patients come to E3 to await specialty placement on units. Because of our purpose and unit structure, patient turnover is very high resulting in an extremely well-coordinated team of professional nurses. We are also the home unit for Sickle Cell Disease management.

Key Responsibilities

  • 60% - Supervisor Responsibilities
  • 30% - General Administrative, Leadership, and Coordination Support for Unit
  • 10% - Professional Development (Always)

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Hospital Unit Service Coordinator or Medical Office experience
  • CPR certification within 3 months of employment and maintain current CPR Certification thereafter
  • Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of such education and experience.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Experience conducting group and individual training sessions
  • Experience preparing reports, memorandums and documents
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Skills to supervise an administrative and/or para-technical team and to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Supervisory skills related to recruitment, organizing, scheduling, and assigning work, training and evaluating work performance, implementing counseling, discipline and corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of patient care support activities, systems, external regulations. and internal policies.
  • Knowledge of Fair Labor Practices, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and University policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated analytical experience with the ability to identify, analyze, report and resolve problems accurately and timely.
  • Working knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources maters and employee performance.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and apply effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies

  • Skilled in written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex clinical and technical information In a clear and concise manner, and to produce a variety of reports and analyses

  • Skills to work accurately and quickly under pressure
  • Organizational skills to provide direct supervision to licensed and unlicensed employees
