Acute Care and Emergency Department Clinical Supervisor
Position Overview
The Acute Care and Emergency Department Clinical Supervisor will lead the development of an integrated nursing team approach. They will work directly with the Director in managing the nursing staff, including education, departmental competencies, evaluation, performance correction, patient safety, and customer service-related issues. The Clinical Supervisor will assist nursing and care staff in achieving their full potential through professional development, enhancing clinical knowledge, technical skills, clinical decision-making, and interpersonal skills.

Ensures Patient Care, Safety Standards, and Documentation
- Carries out patient care, safety standards, and documentation according to established standards and policies
- Supports nurses with assistance on the floor when patient care exceeds current staffing positions
Organizes, Plans, and Directs Acute Care and Emergency Department Functions and Activities
- Interviews staff
- Maintains Acute Care and Emergency Department schedules
- Edits time cards
- Obtains quality data
- Maintains incident report logs, sick call logs, huddles, competency assessment documents, educational events, and prepares evaluations for Acute Care and Emergency Department Staff
Receives Direction From
- Director of Medical Surgical Unit and Emergency Department
- Physicians and mid-level providers
- Administrator and CNO
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited Nursing Program
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a med/surg and/or emergency department area
Licenses and Certifications
- Current Montana State RN license
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC within first 6 months of employment
