E&S Underwriter

About the role

Remote (New Jersey) position for an Excess & Surplus Production Underwriter with a specialty insurance organization. The role focuses on developing broker relationships, underwriting complex risks, and building a profitable book of business in the E&S marketplace.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and price new and renewal E&S Property & Casualty business
• Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale brokers and producers
• Analyze complex risks and determine pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions
• Drive profitable new business production within an assigned territory
• Manage and grow an existing book while maintaining underwriting profitability
• Collaborate with underwriting, reinsurance, and support teams to deliver solutions

Requirements

• 5+ years of Commercial P&C underwriting experience
• Must have Excess Casualty underwriting experience
• E&S underwriting experience preferred
• Carrier, MGA, or wholesale underwriting background welcomed

Qualifications

• CPCU, ASLI, or similar designations are a plus

Skills

• Strong production mindset and broker development experience
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and relationship management skills
