DWU - FSP(XPC) - Support Specialist Electrician - 2nd Shift

Services, supports, and maintains electrical equipment within a determined geographical location. Performs electrical preventative maintenance on equipment using the Maximo system.

Responsibilities

• Maintains safe work habits and actions in all aspects of daily tasks; evaluates reactive work for safety issues, plans projects with safety as a priority, and reviews preventative work for potential safety hazards.
• Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatuses, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate and correct problems.
• Conforms to National Electric Code, National Fire Protection Association 70E, Cummins Production Equipment Specifications, and applicable international standards to maintain, install, and operate electrical systems of 600 volts and below.
• Plans, installs, assembles, and troubleshoots electrical or communication wiring and components, including hanging conduit, installing circuit breakers, testing and installing new equipment and fixtures, and diagnosing malfunctioning systems.
• Utilizes plant electrical distribution knowledge to support customer needs and determine locations for additional loading or consults facilities personnel as needed.
• Orders supplies from vendors and assists in managing spare parts inventories.
• Prepares sketches, notes modifications, or follows blueprints to determine wiring and equipment locations, ensuring conformance to building and safety codes.
• Uses software to track, assign, and prioritize reactive, planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance work, as well as building management systems.
• Follows manufacturer’s recommended preventative maintenance schedules and startup procedures.
• Communicates technical information to customers regarding projects.
• Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatuses, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
• Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
• Works cross-functionally to make repairs within capability.
• Performs work in various conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and moisture.
• Maintains housekeeping and safety in work areas.
• Participates in training and personal development; assists in training department personnel and apprentices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• One of the following:
  • Associate’s degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience,
  • Trade certificate with 6 years of relevant experience,
  • 8 years of relevant experience, or
  • Department of Labor certification.
• Must pass all related testing.
• Journeyman Electrician qualifications preferred.

Selection is based on geographic area seniority. If multiple employees share the same seniority date, selection will be determined by alphabetical rank of last name at the time of hiring. Bids must be submitted by the specified deadline; late bids will not be honored. Successful applicants will move on the 3rd Monday after selections are posted. Probationary employees are not eligible to bid. Employees who successfully bid will be ineligible to bid again for 12 months. Third-round eligible employees must have previous CMI Support Specialist experience or provide a resume with relevant experience for review. Employees bidding outside their current geographical area must submit a resume by the deadline.
