DVM Student Externship - PAW Health Network

About the Role

PAW Health Network is seeking motivated DVM students to join our veterinary team in Kronenwetter for a comprehensive externship program. This is an excellent opportunity for 1st through 4th year veterinary students to gain hands-on clinical experience in a professional veterinary healthcare setting while working alongside experienced veterinarians and support staff.

As a DVM Student Extern, you will apply your foundational veterinary knowledge in a real-world clinical environment, develop practical skills, and contribute to the delivery of quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with patient examinations, diagnostics, and treatment procedures under direct supervision
• Perform routine clinical tasks including patient intake, vital sign monitoring, and basic laboratory work
• Observe and participate in surgical procedures, dental work, and other specialized veterinary services
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using veterinary practice management systems
• Communicate professionally with pet owners regarding patient care and treatment options
• Demonstrate proper animal handling and restraint techniques in a safe and humane manner
• Support the clinical team in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
• Participate in continuing education and mentorship opportunities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills
• Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment that prioritizes animal welfare and client satisfaction

Requirements

• Must be an active veterinary student from an AVMA-accredited institution
• Compassionate, team player, and strong communicator
