About the role

Acupet Veterinary Care is seeking passionate veterinary professionals—from Doctors to Support Teammates—who share our commitment to exceptional medicine as an art form. Since 1995, we’ve built a trusted reputation in the Hudson community on a foundation of trust, kindness, and medical excellence. We prioritize work-life balance through thoughtful scheduling and genuine clinical autonomy for veterinarians, while fully utilizing the skills of technicians and assistants. Our close-knit, collaborative team offers the resources and mentorship of a large network without losing the warmth of a tight-knit group.

We see a diverse caseload spanning the entire small animal lifecycle—preventive wellness, complex diagnostics, and urgent care—providing a satisfying blend of cases and opportunities for growth. Our Hudson, Florida location offers easy access to the Gulf Coast lifestyle with minimal commute stress and a pet-friendly community.

What To Expect

  • Gain broad clinical experience with mentorship and supervision from experienced veterinarians
  • Observe and participate in medical and surgical procedures, the diagnostic process, and client communication (when possible)
  • Receive genuine mentorship without getting lost in the shuffle; our team invests in students
  • Enhance diagnostic skills by interpreting fecal samples, blood smears, radiographic images, urinalysis, and CBC/Chemistry panels
  • Fine-tune technical skills by applying classroom knowledge in a supportive environment

DVM Mission Launch: Externship + New Graduate Opportunity

$1,000/Week Stipend | Open to the Class of 2027

This externship track is designed for students ready to launch their careers. Externs receive an enhanced stipend of $1,000 per week—double our standard rate—because this experience is tied to a hiring opportunity. The hospital has an open new-grad doctor position, and your externship here serves as a first step toward a full-time role. You gain paid, hands-on experience while we both assess fit for a future career together. There’s no obligation or pressure, but if it clicks, the path from extern to full-time doctor is short.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Active enrollment in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program at an accredited university, graduating in 2027
  • Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude
  • A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
  • A compassionate, team-player attitude and a respect for clients and their pets
  • Authorization to work in the United States
