Duty Engineer- JFK
About the role
The Duty Engineer is responsible for the delivery of Aircraft Maintenance service in JFK. This role supports the operations effectively by providing specialized knowledge and skills. The successful candidate ensures the optimal fleet performance of Qatar Airways aircraft through appropriate manpower, materials, and timely completion of assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
- Achieves expected quality and productivity for each maintenance task.
- Plans and executes assigned activities effectively, ensuring proper usage of equipment and tooling as per procedural framework.
- Communicates with all Qatar Airways affiliated parties in the station and oversees audit supervision.
- Responsible for the final release of work accomplished by self or Mechanics.
- Ensures tasks are performed to meet company standards and targets such as dispatch reliability and acceptable deferred defects.
- Accomplishes aircraft maintenance tasks in accordance with agreed-upon policies and procedures.
- Maintains compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment requirements at all times.
- Ensures required tools and equipment are available and in serviceable condition.
- Utilizes available ground time to clear defects and perform scheduled tasks through coordination with Maintenance Operations Control Center and station team.
- Supports AOG activities at JFK Airport and provides operational requirements in regions where Qatar Airways operates.
- Travels to stations for aircraft recovery as needed.
- Plans and executes Line Maintenance services for other airlines according to contracts with Operators.
Qualifications
- Relevant College or University level qualification.
- Holds a minimum of two full QR main fleet EASA/ICAO/QCAA licenses and approvals.
- Licensed Engineer capable of holding authorization on foreign carrier’s aircraft types.
- Holds EASA part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License, type-rated with preference for B787, B777, and A350.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Technical Maintenance for a large airline.
- Holds EASA part 147 type training or equivalent.
- Able to work in a highly pressurized working environment.
- Able to manage high-volume activities within a 24/7 shift pattern.
- Good exposure to operational and tactical decision-making.
- Able to prioritize sequential completion of tasks and processes.
- Must have a legal right to live and work in the United States.
