Duty Driver

Our thrift stores play a vital role in funding our Adult Rehabilitation Centers and providing affordable shopping options to our neighbors.

Responsibilities

  • Join our team in "Doing the Most Good" as a Duty Driver.
  • This position is responsible for safely transporting beneficiaries to and from work therapy assignments, transporting Salvation Army personnel to and from official business, making assigned donation pick-ups or deliver packages to/from specified locations, conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining assigned vehicles, and providing excellent customer service while supporting The Salvation Army's mission.
  • Pay Rate: $17.00-$18.00/hour
  • Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm (Monday-Friday)
  • Status: Full-time

Transportation & Logistics

  • Drive Salvation Army vehicle to safely transport beneficiaries to and from work therapy
  • Follow scheduled routing procedures to complete assigned pick-ups or deliveries efficiently
  • Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials
  • Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles
  • Maintain equipment in excellent working order

Customer Service

  • Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army
  • Ensure all beneficiaries, donors and personnel are treated courteously and respectfully
  • Report any problem in pick-ups or schedule to dispatch
  • Maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code

Operations Support

  • Handle loading and unloading of trucks as needed
  • Wear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard
  • Report any safety or security concerns immediately

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:
    • High School Degree or equivalent
    • At least two years licensed driving experience
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong communication skills in English
    • Basic computer skills
    • Proficiency with mobile applications
    • Basic math skills
    • Excellent manual dexterity
    • Professional demeanor and customer service orientation
  • Required Certifications:
    • Valid Driver's License
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Regularly required to stand, use hands, handle, feel, hear, and talk
    • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms
    • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
    • Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds
    • Occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
