About DU-COMM
DU-COMM is an intergovernmental agency formed in 1975 to provide public safety communications services to Police, Fire, and EMS agencies. Today, DU-COMM serves forty-five (45) agencies in DuPage County and is one of the largest consolidated 9-1-1 centers in Illinois. DU-COMM is located at 420 N. County Farm Rd in Wheaton, IL.
About the role
Telecommunicators (9-1-1 Dispatchers) work in a fast-paced multi-tasking position that includes:
- Answering emergency and non-emergency phone lines
- Entering information into a Computer-Aided-Dispatch terminal
- Dispatching the appropriate type of response
- Updating responders while they are enroute to the emergency
The Telecommunicator is trained and certified in medical and fire dispatching to provide critical life-saving assistance for the caller.
