Dump Truck Driver

About the Role

As a Dump Truck Driver at Harrison Construction Company, a CRH company, you will be responsible for the transportation of materials such as asphalt, stone, dirt, and others to construction projects, company-owned facilities, or various customers. This skilled position involves the safe and efficient operation of dump trucks under the direction of a Foreman.

Responsibilities

• Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working practices and environment.
• Report any problems to the Foreperson, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
• Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs.
• Monitor various gauges during operation of the vehicle.
• Keep the vehicle in clean and orderly condition; job requires cleaning and washing of the vehicle.
• Use Trakit phone for daily entries and timekeeping.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Work effectively in a team environment as well as independently with attention to detail.

Requirements

• High school education or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a truck with similar weight and equipment.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass DOT physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
• Must maintain a current driver’s license that meets state requirements (e.g., CDL, Class A and/or B).
• MVR must meet company standards.
• Thorough operational knowledge and skill of dump truck operation.
• Ability to be flexible with schedule changes, location changes, and shift changes; overtime work required.
• Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and out-of-town/county or state when necessary.
• Must report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
• Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew efficiency.
• Strict adherence to Company safety requirements and procedures.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.

Physical Requirements

• Climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, sitting/driving, shifting gears, and pulling.
• Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.
• May require sitting for extended periods of time.
• Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus.
• Regular lifting of 25 to 50 lbs; occasionally may lift up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to adapt and work in all weather conditions.

Work Environment

• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock or burn.
• The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud, but is typically moderate.
