Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for the delivery of products and materials between facilities, job sites, and customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Transport aggregates and other materials to job site in a safe manner
- Make assigned deliveries in a safe and timely manner
- Assist and supervise loading of truck to ensure proper order and weight distribution
- Receive from dispatcher invoice for materials, directions to job site and any special instructions and follow them to the detail
- Maintain complete and accurate records such as drivers' daily truck log, fuel tickets, delivery documentation, and any other required documents according to state and federal regulations
- Maintain good customer relations
- Perform pre-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and report immediately any concerns or problems
- Obtain necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to the shipping department
- Operate vehicle according to state and federal laws and observing all safety regulations established by the company and the Department of Motor Vehicles
- Provide and document proper routine maintenance of assigned truck
- Survey job site and unload cargo in the best area available in a safe manner
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, brakes, fuel, oil, and water
- Develop good knowledge of inventory, sizes, types, colors, and pallet packages
- Monitor and immediately report problems with assigned equipment operations, product quality, customer satisfaction, and traffic
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed with other positions for job completion
- Perform general labor duties when necessary
- Must be willing and able to cross-train to run other internal truck positions (Moffit truck, Boom truck,Tractor trailer, and Concrete truck)
- Will be required to run other internal trucks due to business needs (Moffit truck, Boom truck,Tractor trailer, and Concrete truck)
Qualifications
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
- Requirements / Education / Experience
- - High school diploma / equivalent
- - Must possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B, however Class A preferred and/needed for Tractor fill-in
- - Must have at least 2 years of current CDL experience
- - Clean MVR
- - Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level.
- - Attitude/Cooperation: Must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, public
- - Good knowledge of the product for product quality assurance
- - Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required. Must have good communication skills
- - Ability to transport material with attention to detail and emphasis on safety.
- - Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in functional condition.
- - Must be able to check truck for maintenance needed and report deficiencies promptly.
- - Must pass drug test, "Fit to Work" physical, and background check.
