CDL Dump Truck Driver

Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. Established in 1908, RGI is the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States. This position supports operations throughout the Upstate of South Carolina and additional South Carolina job sites as needed.

About the role

This full-time position is based in Greer, SC, and reports to the Trucking Superintendent. The successful candidate must have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.

Responsibilities

• Drives truck equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, asphalt, or paving materials.
• Performs pre- and post-shift vehicle checks to ensure safe operation.
• Operates vehicle safely and professionally, adhering to all State and Federal trucking laws and regulations.
• Exhibits defensive driving skills and obeys weight limits when loading truck.
• Keeps floorboards, stepping areas, and handholds free of obstructions.
• Operates controls for tarping loads and secures tarps; tarps all loads regardless of material.
• Operates dump bed controls for raising and lowering bed, and third axle when equipped.
• Hooks and adjusts tailgate spreader chains for tailgating material; manually cleans tailgate and apron after unloading.
• Keeps inside of truck bed clean of material buildup.
• Monitors dash gauges, vehicle performance, and surrounding conditions using mirrors.
• Maintains awareness of traffic and job site hazards.
• Communicates with dispatch and supervisors regarding assignments and scheduling.
• Completes and submits daily logs and truck inspection reports in compliance with regulations.
• Inspects vehicle for defects and reports safety concerns immediately.
• Assists crews with general labor duties when needed.
• Adheres to all company, client, and project safety policies, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

• Must maintain a valid CDL License.
• Must meet company requirements to maintain a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years of truck driving experience preferred.
• Experience operating trucks equipped with third axle preferred.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.

• Ability to maintain composure in stressful traffic or job site situations.
• Ability to travel and support job sites throughout South Carolina as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Requires extensive body movement and manual labor.
• Regularly required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions around moving equipment, dust, vibration, and construction traffic.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, overtime, and travel to support South Carolina operations as needed.

Pay

Competitive wages based on experience, starting at $23.00/hr.
