This position reports to the Store Manager or Operations Manager, overseeing retail or operations activities through the direct supervision of Sales Associates, Utility Workers, Team Leads, ADC Attendants, and Production Workers. The Assistant Manager ensures smooth operations in the absence of the Store/Operations Manager, focusing on the flow of donated goods from collection to sales.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of Sales Associates, Utility Workers, Team Leads, ADC Attendants, and Production Workers.
- Delegate assignments to staff under the direction of the Store/Operations Manager and keep them informed of policy changes and trends.
- Direct, coach, and guide staff to help them attain individual growth and store goals.
- Hold all team members accountable for established best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Provide comprehensive training on job duties, policies, procedures, ethical codes of conduct, and corporate compliance.
- Evaluate performance and take corrective action when necessary.
- Oversee and monitor the quality and quantity of merchandise and production output to meet sales goals.
- Ensure the highest level of customer service to reduce complaints and problems.
- Handle cash register processes, money handling, paperwork, and deposits.
- Provide tools, resources, and guidance to ensure the store runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Maintain top-flight condition and appearance of the retail store or warehouse, focusing on housekeeping and safety.
- Communicate needs for repair, fixtures, and maintenance to the Store/Operations Manager.
- Support the Store/Operations Manager’s vision for merchandising, store presentation, inventory, and customer service.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all store/operations documentation, including sales, staff schedules, and production data.
- Assist in reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions for vacant positions.
- Positively represent the store/operations to internal and external audiences.
- Collaborate with the Store/Operations Manager and staff to maximize service opportunities and maintain a continuous improvement agenda.
- Review and analyze sales, average transactions, and departmental allocation to establish performance standards and detect trends.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase revenues.
- Available during nontraditional hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Serve as an emergency contact for agency locations outside regular business hours.
- Ensure good customer service, quality merchandise, competitive prices, and a positive donating/shopping experience.
- Analyze monthly production, sales, and donor reports to identify weaknesses and develop corrective strategies.
- Cover all areas in the Store/Operations Manager’s absence, which may include traveling to other retail locations.
- Operate a forklift truck.
- Complete all job duties and work requirements.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of military service or related full-time employment.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
- Positive attitude and ability to inspire enthusiasm in others.
- Loyalty to the agency and its mission and policies.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance.
- Willingness to obtain a forklift license if able.
- Ability to use good judgment, discretion, and initiative.
