About the Role

The Dual Language Immersion (DLI) teacher is responsible for the academic, social, and emotional growth of students. This role involves collaborating with school personnel, parents, and community members to promote the core purposes and goals of the Dual Language Immersion Program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education
  • ENL/ESL Endorsement (Preferred)
  • Current Indiana educator’s license
  • Instructional experience in second language acquisition or bilingual education
  • Advanced written and oral proficiency in English and Spanish (Required)
  • SIOP and WIDA trained
  • Proficiency in Spanish—reading, writing, speaking, and listening
  • Ability to teach content in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement the Dual Language Curriculum
  • Provide individualized and whole group language instruction
  • Develop academic language for student success in content areas
  • Evaluate and record grades, absences, and other student data
  • Create and implement lesson plans that meet Indiana/WIDA/ISTE standards
  • Maintain an attractive, neat classroom conducive to language learning
  • Teach core content areas (language arts, math, social studies, science) in the target language using Indiana Academic Standards
  • Integrate both English and the target language in teaching grade-level content
  • Collaborate with staff, administrators, and parents to develop cultural programs and opportunities for students
  • Work with students and parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building/district administration
