Dual Language Immersion Teacher - 5th Grade

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education
• ENL/ESL Endorsement (Preferred)
• Indiana educator’s license (Current)
• Instructional experience in second language acquisition or bilingual education
• Advanced written and oral proficiency in English and Spanish (Required)
• SIOP and WIDA Trained
• Proficiency in Spanish - Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening

Specific Responsibilities In This Position

• Create and implement the Dual Language Curriculum
• Provide individualized as well as whole group language instruction
• Develop academic language for student success in content areas
• Evaluate and keep grades, absences for each student in a formal record/computer grade book
• Maintain an attractive, neat classroom that presents an atmosphere conducive to language learning
• Teach core content areas in the target language (language arts, math, social studies, science) using the Indiana Academic Standards
• Possess demonstrated oral and written fluency in both English and the target language
• Collaborate with staff, administrators, and parents in the development and implementation of cultural programs/opportunities for students
• Work with students and parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse
• Perform other duties as assigned by building/district administration
