DTVB Bartender

About the role

The Bartender ensures quality service, guest satisfaction, and the achievement and maintenance of hotel standards and profit maximization through set-up, drink mixing, service, and clean-up of the bar area.

Responsibilities

• Maintains proper and adequate daily set-up of the bar, including requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce based on Food and Beverage Department projections.
• Ensures product quality by maintaining stock, cutting, and storing all fresh fruit, vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily.
• Greets guests courteously and by name when possible, promotes and documents drink orders, and mixes garnishes while practicing portion control.
• Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale, creates guest checks, and maintains accurate records of all beverage items served.
• Processes cash, credit card, and voucher transactions, verifies charges, records transactions, and ensures proper execution of vouchers to balance all monies.
• Stores and secures all beverage, food, and equipment, deposits cash and vouchers, and secures the bank.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of alcoholic beverages.
• Basic mathematical skills for operating a cash register, making change, totaling guest checks, counting banks, preparing cash drops, and understanding portion sizes.
• Basic English language writing skills for completing requisitions, balance sheets, and vouchers.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to use a knife for garnishes, handle glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and retrieve stock from overhead.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
• Ability to operate a keyboard and follow point-of-sale procedures for pre-checking and closing out orders.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Bartending experience required.
