DSP Team Lead

About the role
In this role, you will create a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for our clients, supporting them in various tasks while promoting their independence. You will work in client homes and the community, including medical providers, retail stores, outdoor and indoor recreation, and travel in all types of weather. Approved mileage and expenses are reimbursed.
Responsibilities
- Assist with self-care, medication compliance, meal preparation, and housekeeping
- Help clients develop decision-making skills, schedule and attend appointments, and engage in their community
- Ensure services to clients meet the highest quality possible
- Ensure that client budgeted hours are provided
- Support staff to understand and implement client’s care plan
- Ensure effective relationships between all stakeholders of the organization (clients, staff, P/G/A’s, case managers, etc.)
- Be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all documents and reports relating to the position
- Ensure clients are educated and empowered to make choices about services
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and implementation of the client’s Life Plan, in accordance with client’s preferences
- Follow established safety practices and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for clients and the organization
- Work effectively within a team to enhance service delivery
- Respect the right to privacy of the client, and confidentiality requirements of Candeo
- Use initiative to think creatively, learn, and grow
- Model and use good decision-making skills and access appropriate resources to assist in developing quality services for clients
- Attend organizational and client-specific training and provide documentation of certifications required for employment with Candeo
- Comply with documentation policies by submitting accurate and timely paperwork including progress notes, billing sheets, time sheets, expense logs, and other required reports
- Maintain documentation of services provided that clearly and legibly reflects the client’s goals, staff intervention and support, client response, and progress made daily
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience in working with individuals with disabilities and mental health is a must
- Valid Class C Iowa Driver’s License
- Proof of Automobile Insurance
- Must pass required background checks
- Access to a reliable computer and internet for documentation, or ability to travel to a location with access

Physical Demands
- Bending, sitting, standing, twisting, reaching, driving, climbing stairs, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell
- Must be able to lift and carry various items when supporting clients, including groceries, supplies, and to provide physical assistance to clients as indicated in the client Individual Support Plan
Schedule
- Structured 12-hour shifts (7am–7pm & 7pm–7am)
- Follows a 3- or 4-day workweek rotation, allowing full-time hours with many days off per month
- Full-time 36-hour shift available: Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday 7am–7pm (1 opening)
- Daily positions exist for daytime, overnight, and 3-day weekend packages
- Pay includes weekday base rates and higher weekend premium rates
Pay
$16.00 - $18.67/hour. This pay range represents Candeo's average range for this role at the time of posting based on a 3-day work schedule (2 weekdays & 1 weekend). Compensation offered will depend on various factors, including number of days worked, shift type, and site need.
