DSP - Direct Support Professional | Weekdays - PT or FT

Location: Bowling Green, OH and surrounding areas in Wood County. Willingness to travel to/from clients within a 30-45 minute radius is required; additional hours may require travel up to 45-60 minutes, including Marion and Richland Counties.

Employment type: Part-Time or Full-Time with a desire for long-term commitment (2+ years). Must be willing to start immediately with part-time hours (approx. 20+ hrs/wk) and can build up to 32-40 hrs/wk within 30 days if desired.

Schedule

Immediate availability needed; primarily Weekday daytime schedules with customizable start and end times. Additional hours available for full-time employment on Weekday, Weekend, and hybrid schedules.

Pay

Starting pay rate: $15 - $19/hr. Pay is based on certifications, experience, schedule, travel availability, work history, references, and overall fit.

Responsibilities

  • Personal care, hygiene, and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including safe transfers and mobility/positioning support
  • Support safe use of assistive devices (walkers, wheelchairs, lifts) as needed
  • Nutrition & meal preparation support
  • Homemaking & environmental support (IADLs) including light housekeeping, errands, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized home environment
  • Community engagement & appointment support, coordination, and transportation (in approved situations)
  • Basic health and safety monitoring
  • Care plan implementation
  • Dementia & behavioral support (if applicable)
  • Follow a written Plan of Care with pro-active observation and excellent electronic documentation
  • Support client independence, safety, and confidentiality
  • Professional, caring, and compassionate behavior toward clients, families, and co-workers
  • Total care team collaboration
  • Ongoing training & certification requirements
  • Performs simple procedures as an extension of therapy services (e.g., range of motion exercises, assistance in ambulation)
  • Performs personal care activities (bathing, shampooing, skin/nail care, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing)
  • Performs household services essential to healthcare at home (meal preparation/feeding, laundry, light housekeeping)
  • Assists in the patient taking medications under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse
  • Follows infection control policies, including proper hand washing techniques
  • Reports observed or reported changes in the client's condition and/or needs to the Registered Nurse
  • Documents care provided and completes required forms for client records
  • Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients
  • Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Treats patients and families with respect and maintains confidentiality
  • Accepts and fulfills assignments with the agency
  • Participates in required in-service programs to meet compliance requirements
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year paid in-home care or caregiving experience (agency experience desirable)
  • Active DODD Certification in good standing is required; 1+ years experience as DSP highly desired
  • Exceptional on-time and attendance record with consistent availability aligned to chosen schedule type (PT/FT/Hybrid)
  • Active CPR + First Aid certification and documentation of both
  • Character traits: reliable, honest, professional, compassionate, detail-oriented (in care + documentation), accountable, friendly, respectful
  • Willingness and ability to perform required physical demands (see below)
  • Consent and ability to pass a State & Federal background check (including fingerprints)
  • 18+ years old with an active Driver's License / State ID
  • Reliable transportation to all scheduled visits within the stated travel radius

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with G-tubes / feeding support
  • Seizure protocols
  • Behavioral health or crisis response
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Active STNA (State Tested Nurse Aide) or CNA certification, or previous home health aide certification
  • Previous home health experience (1-3 years)
  • Familiarity with Medicaid waiver services
