About the role
Services related to DSPs (such as maintaining and submitting accurate nutritional records and reports, assisting residents with skill development, transporting individuals, ensuring a safe environment, and planning and preparing meals) will be provided on a temporary basis when DSPs are absent.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and submits timely and accurate nutritional records and reports.
- Affords assistance to residents in areas such as domestic living, medical appointments, and recreation/socialization.
- Ensures a safe, clean, and normalized home-like environment at all times.
- Informs Program Manager of physical plant needs and promptly reports serious incidents or violations of residents' and staff's rights.
- Maintains a clean environment internally and around the facility, including cleaning rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and appliances.
- Maintains inventory and cleanliness of supplies and rooms; submits orders as needed.
- Ensures assigned clients' nutritional needs are met according to prescribed diets and assists with feeding as necessary.
- Cleans dryers weekly and keeps the area behind washers lint and debris free.
- Removes garbage daily and collects recyclables at designated times and places.
- Prepares and organizes meals in accordance with individual dietary orders and menus, including cooking and storing food items.
- Confers with Program Manager when menu changes are necessary.
- Apportions food for individuals according to their needs.
- Maintains compliance with funding source standards and Agency policies, seeking guidance when needed.
- Communicates pertinent residents and/or program issues to staff and supervisors, ensuring continuity of care and efficient operations.
- Attends ongoing trainings to maintain knowledge of job responsibilities.
- Reports any observed/known physical plant/safety issues, abuse, neglect, or deficiencies.
- Assists in transporting individuals to and from programs, community inclusion activities, medical appointments, home visits, and other activities as needed.
- Completes Staff Information Entry Form when escorting individuals on medical appointments (as needed).
- Strictly adheres to and enforces all Agency policies regarding confidentiality, HIPAA requirements, and corporate compliance.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Food Handlers Certificate preferred.
- Two years of experience in food preparation preferred.
- Basic computer skills for menu planning and food ordering.
- Ability to read, write, and use a telephone, fax machine, and copier.
- AMAP Certification, SCIP R, and CPR & First Aid preferred.
- A valid driver's license is required (must be able to drive large vehicles).
- Respect and consideration for the residents being served.

Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 8:00am, 12:00noon - 6:00pm, and at the discretion of the Program Manager.
