About the role
The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) seeks a Senior Full Stack Architect for the IE&E Modernization Program. In this high-visibility role, you will lead the technical redesign of state health and human services IT systems, focusing on cloud-based solutions and human-centered design.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and fix critical software performance and design problems.
- Drive the use of modern web architecture and development techniques to support the enhancement of the user experience for both internal staff and Washingtonians.
- Develop application solutions using a variety of languages, frameworks, and platforms such as Angular, TypeScript, .NET Core, Azure SQL, and HTML/CSS.
- Architect and develop modular and reusable microservices that live in the Azure cloud and integrate with cloud-based services and legacy systems.
- Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, and maintain high standards of code quality and thoughtful design.
- Present software design issues, questions, and suggestions for the purpose of arriving at alternative courses of action.
- Support the incremental sunsetting of the Automated Client Eligibility System (ACES) legacy system components as they are replaced by IE&E products.
Requirements
- Eleven years of combined professional/practical work in IT focused experience, including designing and programming computer system applications or databases.
- Minimum three years of professional experience working with or developing software for Azure or other cloud platforms.
- One year experience with Agile software development methodologies.
Qualifications
- Experience with Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) frameworks such as Azure Service Bus, Event Hub/Grid, IBM WebSphere or equivalent.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience with software development lifecycles.
- Experience with development platforms (e.g. Azure, Docker, Kubernetes).
- .NET, Angular, TypeScript, CSS, HTML5.
- Context for code, the codebase, and its relation to business objectives.
- Accessibility requirements for ADA compliance.
- Customer-centric design.
Skills
- Consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience specific to Information Technology development, analysis, system design or problem resolution experience.
- Building APIs for internal and external products.
Benefits
The official workstation for this position is in Olympia and offers flexible hybrid remote work. You can be based anywhere in Washington State, however, occasional travel may be required to Olympia office based on business needs.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 annually.
