About the role

You will provide leadership, training, and development to supervisors and hourly personnel by managing process flow, resources, and workforce to meet or exceed established budgets and performance objectives at Vicksburg Forest Products.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest standards for safety performance, leading with a personal example and a well-communicated vision.
  • Plan workflow, control operational and maintenance costs, prioritize and schedule outages and repair procedures, maintain staffing levels, champion employee engagement, and ensure environmental compliance.
  • Ensure established departmental budgets and performance objectives are met or exceeded by communicating goals and progress, providing necessary training, directing resources, organizing processes (e.g., scheduling), and facilitating problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills by coordinating and monitoring team members’ work quality and providing clear direction.
  • Maintain product specifications, emphasizing manufacturing quality products, conducting routine quality checks, and facilitating continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement programs to ensure product meets standards at each job function and initiate corrective action through supervisors.
  • Analyze quality control information and raw materials daily, making adjustments to meet production budget levels.
  • Foster a culture of open and respectful communication.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competencies and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of verifiable lumber or wood production manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict management, coaching, supportive feedback, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member.
  • Strong mechanical and technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in a complex and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literate, with a strong background in MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Lean manufacturing/5S experience is a plus.

Environmental Conditions

  • Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions.
  • Comfortable working in a loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
