This position is located at the Lovelock Correctional Center and works under the supervision of the Supply Tech 2. The incumbent will accept deliveries of supplies and equipment, verify deliveries against invoices, report damaged items, examine produce for freshness, maintain logs for UPS deliveries, deliver food, office supplies, and equipment, ensure trucks are loaded and secure, and supervise inmate workers. A Class B Commercial Driver License is required upon application.
Responsibilities
- Receive and store freight, including food, office furniture, and maintenance supplies; unload shipments manually or using forklifts/pallet jacks; inspect for damage; verify quantity and description against the bill of lading.
- Prepare orders and load delivery vehicles according to established schedules; pull stock, pack or palletize, and move filled orders to staging areas; complete data entries to track inventory.
- Operate light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles to deliver orders and pick up materials, supplies, and equipment within a local, regional, or statewide area; unload orders and secure items for transport.
- Maintain transporting vehicles, forklifts, and related equipment through visual inspections, routine service, and reporting repair needs.
- Monitor warehouse stock layout to ensure proper rotation, easy access, and space utilization; relocate stock as necessary and conduct periodic inventories.
- Supervise inmate crews in a correctional setting, document inmate performance, and implement security procedures, including securing work areas and accounting for tools and equipment.
- Perform related duties as assigned, including training and assigning work to warehouse workers and inmates.
Requirements
- One year of experience in warehouse operations, including loading freight, operating forklifts, and driving commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds or more to deliver supplies and equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver License with appropriate endorsements at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
- Pre-employment criminal history check, fingerprinting, and controlled substance screening.
Skills
- Ability to read warehouse orders, inventory reports, and equipment manuals; perform simple math calculations; document freight conditions and prepare inventory reports.
- Effective communication with co-workers, vendors, and agency staff; ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects frequently.
- Skill in driving light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles long distances and in various driving conditions.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships, meet deadlines, and perform repetitive work according to procedures.
