Driver Supervisor

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of delivery drivers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Develop and implement delivery schedules, routes, and procedures to optimize efficiency and meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of delivery activities, including driver logs, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure timely and accurate order processing and delivery.
  • Conduct regular inspections of delivery vehicles to ensure they are clean, properly maintained, and in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate inventory management and proper loading of delivery vehicles.
  • Resolve any delivery-related issues, such as delays, missed deliveries, and customer complaints, in a prompt and professional manner.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant certifications or training in logistics or transportation management is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a delivery or logistics setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of delivery operations, including route planning, driver scheduling, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Familiarity with the aftermarket collision auto part industry and understanding of parts compatibility and ordering processes.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with delivery management software and systems.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in transportation operations.

Personal/Professional Attributes

  • Experience in Delivery Operations: Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in a delivery or logistics setting, demonstrating a solid understanding of delivery processes and best practices.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the aftermarket collision auto part industry, including parts compatibility, ordering processes, and industry regulations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using delivery management software and systems to track deliveries, manage driver logs, and monitor vehicle maintenance.
  • Compliance and Safety: Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations, ensuring adherence to licensing, registration, and insurance requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Willingness to stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices, actively seeking opportunities to enhance delivery operations and efficiency.
  • Driver Management: Ability to oversee driver performance, including adherence to safety protocols, efficient route planning, and timely delivery.
  • Integrity: Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, maintaining confidentiality of customer information, and adhering to company policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical Stamina: Delivery Driver Supervisors need to have a good level of physical stamina as the role involves being on their feet for extended periods, overseeing loading and unloading of delivery vehicles and conducting vehicle inspections.
  • Manual Dexterity: The ability to manage and manipulate auto parts of various sizes and weights is essential. This may include lifting, carrying, and maneuvering parts to ensure proper loading and unloading from delivery vehicles.
  • Driving Abilities: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary. Delivery Driver Supervisors should have the physical ability to drive vehicles safely and efficiently, which may include sitting for extended periods, operating vehicle controls, and maintaining focus and alertness while on the road.
  • Strength and Agility: Delivery Driver Supervisors may be required to lift heavy auto parts, load, and unload delivery vehicles, and perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, and bending. They should have the strength and agility to oversee these tasks safely and effectively.
  • Vision and Depth Perception: Good vision and depth perception are important for safe driving and maneuvering vehicles in various environments. Delivery Driver Supervisors should have the ability to accurately judge distances, read road signs, and recognize potential hazards.
  • Physical Health: Delivery Driver Supervisors should be in good overall physical health to cope with the demands of the role. This includes being free from any conditions that could impair their ability to drive safely or perform physical tasks.
