Driver - Northport

Empower Rental Group is a family of local equipment rental providers across the Southeastern US, growing from 3 locations in 2021 to over 36 today. We are adding a CDL A Driver to our team at the Northport branch.

About the role

Our CDL A Drivers professionally deliver rental equipment and products to customers. The Driver loads, unloads, and secures transit equipment, relocates units as required, performs maintenance on units as needed, and operates trucks safely at all times. Drivers also assist in the service department and other areas during downtime.

Responsibilities

• Transport rental equipment and products to and from customer job sites or rental locations using a CDL A truck.
• Safely navigate construction job sites and other delivery locations; unload equipment at the desired location.
• Keep truck, tools, and all equipment in good condition and safe working order.
• Maintain optimum truck efficiency by ensuring preventive maintenance requirements are met.
• Build relationships with clients and deliver positive interactions consistently.
• Maintain a neat appearance and professional demeanor with customers and co-workers.
• Handle customer inquiries and requests promptly; communicate frequently with the branch and customers to maintain schedules and report any delivery issues or delays.
• Make appropriate repairs to delivered units.
• Complete DOT logs accurately and ensure signed paper logs are maintained daily.
• Comply with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, especially Hours-of-Service rules.
• Maintain up-to-date permits at all times.
• Occasionally travel overnight for long-distance deliveries.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily.
• Report any needed truck maintenance to the Branch Manager immediately.
• Maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

• Current, valid CDL A Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• 1 year of commercial driving experience.
• Firm understanding of the Company’s driving policies and road rules.
• Exercise defensive driving skills at all times.
• Maintain a driving record that meets acceptable parameters for the Company and its vendors/customers.
