Job Overview
Fairview has an immediate opening for a Driver/Material Handler at the University of MN West Bank Campus located in Minneapolis, MN. This is a casual role, meaning there are no scheduled shifts, and this role is not eligible for benefits.

About the Role

The Driver/Material Handler transports and distributes sterile product and material between the System Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) and other Fairview entities. Transports contaminated instruments to System CSSD for decontamination. Loads and unloads transfer carts. Bar codes instruments and materials according to policy.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the delivery and receipt of CPC instrumentation, linen, metal ware and sterile products among the Fairview entities.
• Loads onto and unloads equipment from delivery vehicle.
• Delivers supplies and carts to designated areas within the hospitals.
• Utilizes power pallet jack for movement of heavy materials.
• Verifies materials contents against surgical case cart orders.
• Buils Metal ware orders.
• Knows routine vehicle maintenance schedule.
• Follows protocol for putting away and distributing sterile instrumentation.
• Keeps conditions favorable for the storage and transportation of sterile instrumentation.
• Completes Sterility Check points on instruments assembled and shipped.
• Knows Minnesota Department of Transportation Vehicle Policy.
• Knows basic Infection Prevention practices in relation to the transportation of sterile and soiled instruments.
• Knowledge of Instrument Tracking System.
• Provides care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
• Accepts cultural differences.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D.
• Clean Driving Record.
• Class B Drivers License.
• Knowledge of routine vehicle maintenance schedule.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation Requirements DOT.
• Knowledge of Sterile and contaminated material and appropriate flow processes.
• Knowledge materials that are being transported and how to access MSDS information.
• Knowledge of basic Infection Prevention practices in relation to the transportation of sterile and soiled instruments.
• Knowledge of Minnesota Department of Transportation Vehicle Policy.
• Knowledge of Instrument Tracking System.
• Knowledge of developmental stages and age appropriate outcomes and interventions.
• Good communications skills both written and verbal.

Pay

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If your role is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer, is what will be honored.
