Driver, Local Shuttle (Class CDL- A)

Responsibilities

• Operate a 26' box truck safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and DOT regulations.
• Accurately and efficiently load and unload cargo, often using a manual or powered pallet jack.
• Communicate with customer representatives in a professional manner.
• Comply with DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing.
• Secure cargo and arrange it properly within the vehicle.
• Ensure any mechanical issues with the vehicle are addressed before driving.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications & Work Experience

• CDL A License Required
• A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years. 3+ years preferred.
• Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41.
• Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions.
• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care.
• Detail-oriented mindset required.
• MUST have a TWIC or be eligible to obtain one within 90 days.

Physical Demands

• Frequent sitting while operating a commercial vehicle.
• Use hands and fingers to operate a steering wheel, controls, GPS devices, and other on-board equipment.
• Reach for freight at waist level and occasionally above or below shoulder height.
• Occasionally squat or crouch to handle and position freight.
• Climb in and out of the truck 4 to 6 feet, 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing.
• Conduct pre-trip inspection.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
• Must be able to stand for at least 5% of the day and walk on surfaces such as wood, metal, and concrete, which may be slippery or wet.
• Must be able to reach above shoulder level, at waist level, and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck.

Work Environment

• Exposure to diesel fumes, airborne particles, and occasional harsh weather conditions while loading or unloading.
• Time spent both inside the truck cab—often involving extended periods of sitting and exposure to engine noise and vibration—and outside at customer sites, terminals, or on public roadways.
• Noisy environments, especially at delivery or pick-up locations.

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00 per hour, plus a $2.00 /hour shift differential for overnight shifts. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location, and other objective business considerations.
