Description of Work
This position focuses on evaluating driver skills and ensuring that all applicants meet required standards for safe vehicle operation. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:
- Conduct Examinations: Carry out standardized skills and knowledge tests for Commercial and Non-Commercial Driver License applicants.
- Audit Programs: Monitor Third Party Examiners and Driver Education teachers for compliance with testing requirements.
- Verify Compliance: Review applications and related documents for accuracy and investigate possible irregularities or fraud.
- Inspect Equipment: Check vehicles for required safety features such as inspection stickers, lighting, and windshield wipers.
- Administer Tests: Perform vision screenings and CDL-related exams, including knowledge, pre-trip, and driving tests.
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
- Special Requirements: All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application. All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment. All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
