Description of Work

This position supports the safe operation of motor vehicles across the Commonwealth by evaluating driver readiness and ensuring accurate processing of customer documents and transactions. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:

  • Testing Oversight: Conduct vision, knowledge, pre-trip, skills, and driving tests for non-commercial and commercial applicants
  • Vehicle Evaluation: Review vehicle condition and verify that required equipment and safety features meet standards
  • Document Examination: Assess identity documents and applications for authenticity and signs of fraud
  • Customer Processing: Assist customers with licensing services, test results, applications, and issuance of products
  • Fraud Prevention: Access systems to verify identities and prevent the creation of false or duplicate records
  • Compliance Support: Follow all REAL ID, customer service, fee waiver, and Title VI requirements without exception

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Pay

In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Special Requirements: All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application. All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment. All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
