Driver License Examiner w/CDL - Hazleton
Description of Work
This position helps protect public safety by conducting examinations, verifying documents, assessing vehicles, using systems, and serving customers. Duties include:
- Conduct Examinations: Administer knowledge, vision, pre-trip, skills, and road tests for commercial and non-commercial applicants.
- Verify Documents: Review applications, identity records, and supporting paperwork to confirm authenticity and detect fraud.
- Audit Vehicles: Check vehicles for proper inspection, equipment function, and readiness for testing.
- Use Systems: Access databases and tools to authenticate documents and determine eligibility for licenses and identification cards.
- Serve Customers: Provide information, process applications, issue products, and follow all customer service requirements.
- Follow Standards: Apply agency regulations including REAL ID rules, fee waiver guidelines, safety practices, and required procedures.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements: Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application. No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment. Employees hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment. This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z. You must meet the PA residency requirement. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
