Driver- CDL A- Local delivery

Second shift, Monday–Friday, 2:00 pm – 11:00 pm; no weekends.

About the role

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws.

Essential Functions

• Comply with driver responsibilities as outlined in the company DAART program and as required by DOT.
• Maintain vehicle in accordance with Elkhart Transportation management policy.
• Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, complying with company policy and procedures and applicable state and federal laws.
• Support on-time delivery by transporting loads via established route to the proper destination as efficiently as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and that the correct load is secured before leaving the facility.
• Verify product count while the truck is being loaded.
• Obtain correct acknowledgment or signature and date for the bill of lading and any necessary signatures; return properly completed documentation to the Transportation Manager.
• Comply with performance measures.

Requirements / Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDL-A License required.
• Prior experience driving large vehicles, such as box truck or similar.
• Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices.
• Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and ambient temperatures. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud. On the road, may encounter traffic or other hazardous driving conditions.
