About the role
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused CDL Driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including both liquid and dry products. We are dedicated to a “Zero Accidents, Zero Injuries” culture, actively investing in continuous safety training and leveraging cutting-edge technology.
Responsibilities
- Perform bulk and packaged deliveries of hazardous and non-hazardous materials (liquid and dry).
- Execute proper loading and unloading procedures using pumps, air, and other equipment to move product.
- Manage the entire delivery process, including transport, transfer, securement, and completion of all applicable paperwork.
- Operate tractors, trailers, or service vehicles in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and site-specific rules and regulations.
- Follow Brenntag operating procedures, work instructions, and safety policies, including those at customer/vendor sites.
- Operate pallet jacks (electric or manual), forklifts (if certified), dock locks, dock levelers, and other delivery equipment.
- Maintain and care for assigned equipment, including ELDs, virtual gateways, camera systems, and tracking units.
- Ensure good housekeeping and proper working order of all equipment prior to use.
- Remain in communication with supervisors and/or dispatchers to receive delivery instructions.
- Perform general warehouse duties and use applicable equipment as needed.
- Complete all required training and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or US military experience.
- Class "A" CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat Endorsement (as required for the role).
- Current DOT medical card.
- Current TWIC card or proof of application in process (if required by location).
- Ability to drive a manual transmission.
- Certification to operate pallet jacks (electric or manual).
- Forklift certification (if required by location).
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Comfortable with general warehouse duties and applicable equipment.
- Detail-oriented, customer-focused, and organized.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions in English, and perform basic arithmetic.
- Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, transportation platforms like Samsara).
- Willingness to operate power units with advanced camera and safety systems for compliance.
- Must reside within sixty miles of the location; no lodging provided.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and E-verify check.
- Must pass a pre-employment DOT fit-for-duty exam.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of liquid bulk hauling experience or 3 years of commercial truck driving experience.
- Certification from an Accredited Commercial Driving Academy.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and drive for long hours.
- Ability to safely step into and out of equipment.
- Ability to stage, move, set up, operate, and break down equipment for loading/delivery tasks.
- Lifting ability up to 75 pounds.
- Frequently push, pull, or move up to 150 pounds.
- Ability to wear a respirator (if required) and all other personal protective equipment.
- Ability to load and unload hazardous materials.
- Ability to climb a ladder.
