Driver Associate

Safety-sensitive position responsible for transporting staff, patients, and visitors in a safe, timely, and professional manner under all weather and driving conditions, including environments with multiple distractions.

Responsibilities

• Provides transportation for employees, guests, and community groups to and from various locations.
• Performs limited maintenance and care of department vehicles and equipment; notifies supervisor of anticipated repair needs.
• Uses radio to communicate with dispatch and other shuttle drivers while en route.
• Monitors parking areas and grounds for suspicious activity or hazards and reports them to the appropriate department.
• Ensures appropriate documentation is completed accurately and timely in accordance with regulations and department policy.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 20 years of age.
• Excellent driving record.
• Michigan Driver’s License with Passenger (P) endorsement (required within 30 days).
• Michigan Chauffeur License (required upon hire).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC (required within 90 days; Heartsaver may be accepted).
• MDOT Medical Physical (required upon hire).

Preferred Qualifications

• Michigan Driver’s License with Air Brakes (A) endorsement (within 30 days).
• Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (within 30 days).
