About the role

This position is based in Ohio and requires a self-starter with high attention to detail and flexibility in daily execution. The successful candidate will perform subsurface exploration using conventional drilling techniques, including auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, air rotary drilling, and diamond bit coring. Responsibilities also include installing instrumentation such as piezometers, monitor wells, and inclinometers, as well as working as part of a multi-person team on projects.

Responsibilities

• Operate a geotechnical drill rig to advance boreholes in soil up to 100 feet.
• Oversee a 2–3-person drill crew in all tasks associated with drilling operations.
• Install instrumentation and monitoring wells.
• Perform routine repairs and maintenance on drilling equipment.
• Conduct basic surveying, site reconnaissance, and utility clearance tasks.
• Drive drilling equipment to and from project locations.
• Inspect and complete routine maintenance of equipment.
• Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning.
• Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.
• Perform daily tasks including surveying and locating drilling points, conducting site reconnaissance, loading/unloading tooling, materials, and samples, classifying soil and rock samples, and preparing internal and external paperwork (e.g., daily field forms, DOT Logs).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.
• Able to perform NQ rock coring and mud rotary drilling.
• Possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
• Excellent time management skills, including understanding and setting priorities.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
