Driller Assistant Technician

Assist in executing drilling operations in accordance with the drilling plan from implementation to completion and abandonment of drill sites. Work with the Driller/Operator and crew to prepare equipment and sites, including setup and breakdown, which involves repetitive bending, lifting, and climbing. Promote safety and report any safety issues, incidents, or irregularities. Seasonal positions are available; performance and business needs will be reviewed after 90 days of employment. All non-experienced helpers start at the base hiring rate unless a valid commercial driver's license is held. All field positions require operation of company vehicles and are classified as Safety-Sensitive. Candidates must successfully complete and receive clearance on a 10-panel drug test, alcohol screening, Fit-for-Duty evaluation, and provide a current DMV Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip inspection.
• Set up a control zone.
• Perform physical labor, including shoveling drilling debris and transporting materials using ergonomically correct lifting techniques.
• Maintain equipment.
• Fill in for driller when qualified.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain all certifications required by the industry or OSHA.
• Operate forklift (training provided).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (no DUI in the past 5 years or major incidents).
• Willingness to travel extensively.
• Ability to pass a yearly physical and random drug test.
• Mechanical ability to perform minor repairs.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

• HAZWOPER certification.
• Forklift certification.
• CPR and First-Aid certifications.

Working Conditions

The physical and work environment requires the ability to:

• Walk, use hands, handle objects/tools, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, bend, or crouch.
• Talk, hear, and use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Stand for long periods and maneuver in small areas.
• Wear protective and safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
• Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds or more throughout the workday.
• Work in all weather conditions, including exposure to dust and fluctuating temperatures.
• Perform repetitive motions, including bending and twisting, throughout the workday.
• Work up to 55 hours per week (up to 12 hours per day) doing physical labor.
• Withstand long periods of standing (fieldwork involves time on feet except for breaks and lunch).

The work environment includes exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions, uneven and slippery surfaces, and machinery noise that can be loud and distracting.
