Driller Assistant
Join a Winning Team! Patriot Engineering and Environmental is seeking a Driller Assistant in our Indianapolis market. About the Role
This position will be based out of the Central Indiana region. It requires a self-starter with high attention to detail and flexibility in daily execution of duties and deliverables. The successful candidate will assist and support the Driller in all aspects of the drilling operation.
Responsibilities
- Aids the Driller in all aspects of the drilling operation.
- Loading and unloading for drilling projects.
- Prepares boring logs and sample jars prior to job.
- Fills sample jars in the field.
- Completes boring logs in the field and collects samples from the soil sampler.
- Drives the support vehicle to job sites.
- Assists the Driller during drilling operation with setting up drill rig, carrying augers and hooking them up to the drill rig and drill stem, cleaning split-spoon samplers between sample intervals, shoveling auger cuttings during drilling operation, and backfilling borings at the end of the drilling operation.
- Performs independent inspection and completes routine maintenance of equipment.
- Follows safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participates in pre-task planning. Reports any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in military, construction, or manual labor is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug and background screening.
- Strong work ethic and attendance record.
- Good listener with a desire to learn.
- Good communicator with follow-through and attention to detail.
