Job Description
The Drawing Controls Engineer maintains electronic files for all site drawings. Supports capital projects through system control and updating of all modified and new drawings. Supports other departments as CAD services or drawing searches are needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains control and updating of all site drawings within the drawing management system, Meridian.
- Issues electronic drawing files for revisions as needed for capital projects.
- Updates/returns revised drawings and all new drawings into the drawing management system.
- Performs periodic drawing file maintenance to control system size, conversion and retirement of non-relevant files.
- Utilizes AutoCAD to generate new drawings, develop new designs, or update redlines of existing drawings.
- Prepare piping layouts and conceptual design for difficult complex problems.
- Communicate with engineering and mechanical teams regarding new and revised drawings.
- Take field measurements, field walk downs, and verifications.
- Interface with the design and engineering team as well as contractors.
- Seek out information and troubleshoot with design and engineering.
- Become proficient with 2D and 3D CAD capabilities, as required.
- Work with engineering, other professionals, and SMEs to obtain input to recommendations.
- Participate in technical reviews of specifications, designs, codes, and other requirements.

Education
- Minimum: Associates or Technical degree in CAD systems or engineering required.
- PREFERRED: B.S. Engineering degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum: 5 years of CAD experience preferred.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Competencies: Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Meridian, and Maximo – experience with Revit, Navisworks, and other 3D modeling software preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
Working Conditions
- Position will work mostly in an office environment, but will be required to go out into the Plant.
- May be exposed to fugitive emissions of chemicals typical of chemical operations.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders equipment for installation review and troubleshooting.
- Must be willing and able to wear PPE including hard-hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and any other devices or equipment that is required.
