Drafting & Documentation Technician
About the Role
The Documentation Technician converts existing building floor plans into standardized Microsoft Visio diagrams that support the physical security systems K Group installs and maintains. Using architectural floor plans, PDFs, evacuation maps, and other existing site documentation, you'll recreate building layouts in Visio and accurately document cameras, access control devices, nurse-call systems, and other low-voltage assets. This is not an engineering, architectural design, or CAD design role. You'll recreate existing building floor plans in Microsoft Visio and produce accurate, standardized documentation used by service and operations teams.
If you enjoy detail-oriented work, have strong spatial awareness, and take pride in producing organized, accurate documentation, you'll thrive in this role.
Responsibilities
Diagram Production
- Produce accurate Visio floor plans from existing site drawings, recreating walls, doors, and major areas to scale
- Plot security devices — cameras, card readers, door contacts, nurse-call components, and related assets — using K Group’s standard symbol set
- Deliver both a base layout and a with-devices version for every site
Standards & Library
- Apply K Group diagramming standards consistently across every site
- Maintain an organized, version-controlled library of site diagrams
- Update diagrams as field conditions change or new information comes in
Coordination & Source Gathering
- Interpret and reconcile inconsistent source documents — and flag when something doesn’t add up rather than reproducing an error
- Coordinate directly with Service Delivery Coordinators and Field Service Technicians to track down missing or unclear information
- Request original drawings from sites when better source material is likely to exist
