DPW Water Use Analyst

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily water consumption for discrepancies, leaks, and abnormal usage;
  • Investigate issues and communicate findings to customers;
  • Track usage trends and research tools, standards, and best practices for water conservation;
  • Collaborate with meter shop, leak detection, billing staff, and other departments to support accurate monthly billing;
  • Analyze usage data and recommend improvements to minimize waste and optimize system performance;
  • Manage municipal water systems, including irrigation, water features, comfort stations, and related monitoring/control platforms;
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, repair, and seasonal operations of Town-managed water systems; serve as liaison for water-use system issues;
  • Maintain comprehensive records and manage work orders for DPW water systems;
  • Develop and update SOPs; assign and support service crews, ensuring safety and quality standards;
  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies and support budget development;
  • Assist with inspections, project management, meter replacements, service line installations, and troubleshooting of metering and billing technologies;
  • Provide field and office support during emergencies, leak responses, shutdowns, and storm readiness activities; serve as essential staff during weather-related events;
  • Develop educational materials, update website content, and engage the public through outreach on water quality, conservation, and sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in business management or a related field and five to ten years of experience in public works or similar environments, with experience in data analysis, water meter data collection, conservation programs, and AMI/billing systems preferred;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Valid Class D Driver’s License;
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Industry Safety Certification (required within one month of employment).

Pay And Benefits
